Lines, Lines, Lines

I saw a play last weekend. And a couple of the actors were struggling with their lines.

Nothing major. Just some fumbling and repeating of some lines, as they tried to get back on track.

Been there. Done that.

I’m not sure if it was noticeable from the audience point of view.

But I could tell.

And it put the fear of God in me. I want to learn my lines for my play!

I’m back from rehearsal. And I was doing a lot of fumbling.

I’ve been working on the lines. But not enough.

Or not effectively enough.

It’s still early days. The show doesn’t open for another five weeks.

But…

It feels terrible when the lines that I’ve been working don’t come to me during rehearsal.

I know that’s what rehearsals are for. It’s part of the process.

Still feels sucky, though.
