Revisiting my Marathon Weight

It was almost four years ago that I decided to try to get my weight down to 180lbs, which I dubbed my Marathon Weight.

And for over two years, I was doing very well in that endeavour. Using Intermittent Fasting as my dieting tool of choice.

I was encouraged by my previous success of getting to my KFC Weight of 200lbs.

But by the end of 2022, my weight started climbing back up. And 2023, was a disaster.

The pounds slowly came back on.

I was over my KFC Weight again. I didn’t gain all the weight back. I averaged about 205lbs for most of the year, which is still 20 lbs less than when I started.

What happened?

I love eating. And I wasn’t following through on the things that I said I was going to do.

I said I’d go to bed earlier. Oddly enough, getting enough sleep seems to help with the weight loss.

I ate lots of bad stuff.

I snacked at night.

I wasn’t as active as I could be.

So, here I am. With a post Christmas average weight of 211lbs.

But I signed up for The Around the Bay road race this year. It’s a 30-kilometer run. Not quite a marathon, but almost three quarters of a marathon.

Which means I’ve got to train for it.

Which means lots of running.

(I’m a bit behind in my training. Surprise, surprise.)

But I plan to run the race. And I will lose some weight in the process.

We’ll see how much weight that will be at the end of March.

The real question is will it get me to my Marathon Weight? And will I be able to maintain after I stop training?

We’ll see…
