Remembering to Play Again

At the end of February, my friend Lisa contacted me to see if I was interested in joining a play she was in. The person cast as her husband had dropped out and rehearsals were about to start.

I said sure.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but it had been five years since I had done a play! Where the heck does the time go?

The last play I had performed in was my play The Lost Years. In 2017… Wow.

I had a great time doing Death by Design. The play was silly but fun. I enjoyed rehearsing and performing. Working with the cast and the crew was a blast.

And I realized that I didn’t want to wait another five years before my next show.

I auditioned for another play and didn’t get the part. That’s how it goes.

Then I auditioned for the musical Assisted Living and got the part. Another fun experience.

And after that show, I was lucky enough to play Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. And meet another bunch of people and work with friends.

It’s so easy to stay home and watch Netflix. Or some other streamer. And don’t get me wrong, I love to do that.

But it is great for the soul to get out and do something you love.

For me, it’s acting and writing.

I had let too much time pass me by without performing. And I don’t know how much time I’ve got left on this world. None of us do. So, while I can, I’m going to do more shows.

I’ve got a script right now.

Rehearsals start next month.

I better finishing highlighting my lines….

I’m looking forward to playing with another bunch of folks!
