Finding Moments of Focus

Some things never change.

The way to accomplish goals is simple.

Find moments of focus and do the work.

It doesn’t have to be a lot of time.

Consistency is more important than duration.

Because consistency builds on itself.

It compounds.

Doing a binge of work here and then a binge later might feel good.

But it’s not sustainable.  And in the end, it doesn’t produce results often.

It’s crazy how much you can do in 15 minutes a day.

Versus a few hours here and a few hours there.

This applies to fitness and writing and a whole lot more.

So why is it so hard to fit in these moments of focus?

Why is it so hard to commit to them consistently?

I don’t know.

I only know that it works.

When I shut up my brain’s objections and sit down and write for a few minutes, things get done.

When I do that every day, even for only a few minutes, projects get completed.

Sometimes you have to stop where you are and take those moments.

Maybe it’s not 15 minutes.  Maybe it’s only 5 minutes.

Even that would build up to a couple of hours a month.

We try to find the right amount of time to devote to a project and put it off until that time is available.

It’s another form of Resistance.

Find a couple of minutes today.

Start your work.

You don’t need to finish it today.

Just start it.

And then continue it for a few moments tomorrow.

You will get there.
