Camping and Kayaking

As I was writing about our recent mini Vacation, I remembered another one we had a couple of weeks ago.

But it got lost between my week of Woo-Woo and my Fringe posts.

We missed the first weekend of the Hamilton Fringe because we were camping. With our friends, Ken and Ramona Mitchell. Who are the parents of Kate Mitchell, Keaton’s partner.

They kindly invited us to their campsite and even set up a tent for us.

We had to bring our sleeping bags and an air mattress. And food and drink.

Deb packed the pump that you connect to the car battery. I removed it for another pump we had that you charge up. I tested the charge before we left.

And when we arrived and got the air mattress out, I attached the charged pump.

Which ran out of charge as soon as it started.

Much to my chagrin, it wouldn’t work while it was charging back up. So, we were out of a pump.

No problem. We’d do the old-fashioned way. Blowing it up with our breath.

It took a while. And every time we took a break, I was reminded that I didn’t bring the other pump. Oh well.

Fortunately, it got better from there on in.

Good company and good conversation.

Ken shared his special bottle of wine that we bought for him on his sixtieth birthday.

The weekend was very relaxing and easy.

Some drinking. Some chatting.

The next day we went kayaking.

Then Food. And more drinking.

And then more kayaking.

Before we knew it, the weekend flew by, and it was time to head home.

It was a great weekend with Ken and Ramona.

It made me grateful.

I realized that not only are we comfortable with Kate’s parents. But we’re also comfortable with Chris’ parents, Brenda and Dale.

And although we’ve just met Dan’s parents, Mario and Chris, they seem very easy to get along with also.

It’s nice to be comfortable around the parents of your children’s significant other.
