July 2023 Mile Marker

July weight loss went in the right direction. But not very far.

My average weight was 203.9lbs for July. Down from the previous month, but only by 0.2lbs. Highest weight was 207.6lbs and lowest was 200.6lbs.

The month was off to a good start because I was cutting out TV during the week. It’s a gateway behaviour of mine that leads me to snack and stay up late.

Unfortunately, towards the end of the month I had started watching TV again during the week. And my weight crept back up.

But I’ve decided to focus on something different for the coming month. I’m going to try to get 7 hours or more of sleep.

I know. It sounds counter-intuitive.

But, I’ve read in a few places about how lack of sleep makes us prone to eating more. And can also affect the digestion process. And weight gain. And insulin resistance.

Instead of doubling down and trying to stop watching TV, I will try to get to bed before 11pm during the week.

I will shoot to get at least 7 hours sleep.

I usually average around 6 hours of sleep. But over the last few years, I keep trying to increase it. And I’m successful for a bit and then I fall off the sleep wagon again.

But focusing on getting enough sleep might be the lever I need to curb some of the TV watching. And hopefully lead to a domino effect.

Let’s see how getting more sleep can affect the weight loss…
