Family Day Weekend 2025 – part 5

Before heading home, we had a big breakfast. Then we said goodbye to Gay and Spike and hit the road.

The roads were much better than the day before.  But we did pass 15 cars and trucks that had gone off the highway during the storm.  They had been there for a couple of days. Abandoned.

One of the 15 cars and trucks we saw abandoned off the highway.

Kate’s parents, Ken and Ramona, were meeting us at our place.  And then we were going to go out for ramen.

But when we arrived home, we had a surprise waiting for us.

The heat was off.

And the temperature was almost at 1 degree Celsius (34 degrees Fahrenheit).

Not good!

It appeared that the intake for our furnace got blocked during the snowstorm and shut off.

Fortunately, the house didn’t go below zero and no pipes burst.

But it took us a little while to get the boiler going.

Thank goodness Ken’s speciality is furnaces, so we managed to get the heat started.

Plus, there was a lot of shoveling to be done. To try to make space for parking.

We missed our reservation for ramen.

Instead, we went to Buddy’s for some wings and fries.

Which was probably a better thing anyway.

We introduced some more people to Buddy’s wings, and we were able to walk there.

So, we were able to drink and not worry about folks driving.

Keaton and Kate shared this photo of their wedding kiss

And we had all done a lot of driving that day.

More drinks were had back home as we toasted Keaton and Kate’s marriage.

This was the first time that both families had been together since K and K had tied the knot.

The following morning, Keaton, Kate, Ken, and Ramona headed to Barrie.  So, Keaton and Kate could carry on with the second half of their visit.

All in all, it was a fantastic weekend.  Lots of fun. Great face to face time with family.

My heart is full.
