October 2024 Marathon Mile Marker

The good thing about gaining weight one month? I often have enough motivation to get back on track the following month.

(That is except for 2022. Which was one continuous slide up the scale. But we won’t go there.)

My average weight for October was 198.3 lbs which 4 lbs less than September! Highest weight was 201lbs. Lowest weight was 193.6lbs. My weight hasn’t been that low in two years.

And the main thing I attribute to the successful weight loss for the month was a mantra. I made it up after reading The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter:

Be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

I know what to do to lose weight. But doing it consistently is a challenge. And not giving into the temptations that arise.

I even managed to fit in a 37-hour fast. I intended to only do a 24-hour fast, but I kept going.

Don’t get me wrong, though. It wasn’t all discomfort.

I ate.

I even overate a few times. I had to get in a splurge or two.

But I didn’t overdo it.

For November, I will keep up the mantra!

And I’ll stick to my fasting until 2pm or so. During the week.

I will fit in another 24-hour fast or two.

But I will also enjoy some delicious food too.
