Contemplating the Mini Splurge

I recently mentioned my monthly splurge. But if I’m honest, I have a weekly mini splurge, too.

The weekend is approaching and I’m getting ready.

I don’t go hog-wild on my mini splurge.

It’s more of a relaxation of the rules.

Where I don’t worry about the weight loss. And I am lax about when I eat and what I eat.

Of course, it makes my weight loss journey two steps forward and one step back.

My weight goes up on Saturday and Sunday.

And then it slides back down during the week until the next weekend. Slowly but surely.

It would make sense to not do the mini splurge.

To keep on track.

To have a consistent downward slope.

But having the mini splurge helps me stay committed for the long term.

In the last eight months, my monthly average weight has trended downwards. It only went up in April.

It seems counter-productive to have the mini-splurge. But it keeps me going in the right direction.

The most important factor of a weight loss regime is sustainability.

And if I need a weekly break to sustain my weight loss efforts, then bring on the mini splurge!
