The Sweet Smell of Decay

Ah, the joy of opening the fridge door and realizing that it isn’t cold inside.

This was Tuesday evening.

The lights came on.  There was power.  But no coldness.

On the bright side, the freezer part is still working. So, our frozen stuff was safe.

Unfortunately, we were out that evening, so this problem had to wait until the next day.

Except none of us were home during the day on Wednesday and we missed a window to get a repair person in.

So, it was Thursday before we had a repair person take a look.

The good news?  It was an easy fix.

The bad news?  The part cost almost as much as a new fridge.

So, time to get a new fridge.

And continue tossing out food that has gone bad.

Ugh.

We’ve got a tiny fridge in the basement that Tara used for university.  But there’s no where near the room we need for our food from the upstairs fridge.

Perishable foods are being kept out of the fridge until they perish.  Or stink too much.

Or until we get a new fridge.

It’s Friday now.  We’ve ordered a new fridge.

It should arrive tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, we are in a slow race to see what foods survive being unrefrigerated for a few days.

At this point, I’m going to assume almost none of them.
