My Five Year Plan

I mentioned my daughter’s 30 by 30 list last week. And I was going to come up with my own list.

My 30 by 65. Although, it would actually be my 30 by 66, since I’ll be 61 in a month.

Let’s call it “My Five Year Plan.”

Coming up with 30 things wasn’t as easy as I thought.

They aren’t in any real order, except the first few are easier to get done than the later ones.

  1. Visit Keaton and Kate in BC
  2. Run the Around the Bay road race.
  3. See the Northern Lights
  4. Get weight to 190lbs.
  5. Submit a play to a playwriting contest.
  6. Write a full-length play.
  7. Start learning Irish.
  8. Get weight to 180lbs.
  9. Learn French well enough to have a conversation with someone.
  10. Earn $500 from a side hustle.
  11. Start learning Spanish.
  12. Do the Lost Years in Montreal
  13. Earn $1K from a side hustle.
  14. Get weight to 170lbs.
  15. Have one of my plays performed at Hamilton Fringe
  16. Have one of my plays performed at a different Fringe.
  17. Improve my Portuguese so that I can have a conversation.
  18. Get weight to 160lbs.
  19. Go somewhere warm on a vacation with Deb.
  20. Go on a road trip with Deb.
  21. Run a 50km race.
  22. Run a marathon in 4 hours.
  23. Sing a solo in the choir.
  24. Make $10K from a side hustle.
  25. Have one of my plays performed at a community theatre.
  26. Go to Newfoundland
  27. Go to Europe
  28. Run a 50mile race.
  29. Run a 100km race.
  30. Have one of my plays performed at a professional theatre.

I remember reading somewhere that we tend to overestimate what we can do in a year. But underestimate what we can do in five years.

How will I do?

Some of the things on the list were also on my bucket list from 2012. And they still aren’t done.

Start the timer. I’ve got five years.

First update will January 2025.
