I decided to skip the April 2023 and May 2023 Mile Markers because they canceled each other out.
My weight loss for April was 0.4lbs. And then I gained it back by the end of May. So, a net gain of zero from where I was at the end of March.
For both of those months, I struggled with snacking in the evening. It’s my personal Kryptonite! And I’m finding it challenging to shake.
I continued with the struggle with late night snacking in June. But I managed to get back on track with the weight loss. My average weight went down 1.7lbs. From 205.8lbs to 204.1lbs.
I don’t know why I’m finding it so hard to break out of the snacking pattern.
I suspect my TV watching is having a cumulative effect.
When I watch TV, I stay up late. When I stay up late, I don’t get a great night’s sleep. When I don’t have a great night’s sleep, I’m susceptible to cravings the following evening. And then I watch TV again and start snacking.
Staying up late also interrupts my morning routine. Which means I don’t always feel like I’m starting the day on the right foot.
It’s a domino effect of poor choices encouraging more poor choices.
I also find myself slipping into FOMO. Fear of Missing Out.
I want to eat bad foods.
Or put off my Time Restricted Eating (TER) and eat breakfast. I eat “normally” on the weekends and it’s not hard to put off having breakfast until the weekend.
Intellectually, I understand the benefits of the temporary deprivation. And I’ve managed to do it for a few years now.
But emotionally, I don’t always want to listen. Sometimes I just want to EAT!!
Not always because I’m hungry, either.
I do better with my weight loss when I’m busy. Too busy to be watching TV every night.
Although, it might not be the TV itself that’s bad. It’s the TV-watching by-product of staying up late.
Watching TV is like eating chips. I can’t watch only 1 show. I watch many episodes. Or a couple of different shows.
For July, I’m going to try to restrict my TV watching to the weekend. No TV on Monday to Thursday. And then as much TV as I want on Friday to Sunday.
We’ll see how it goes for the month.

Go man go!!
