Morning Mindfulness

For years, I’ve been hearing about the benefits of meditation. I’ve heard it from multiple sources, many different times. I kept telling myself I’ve got to try it,

But I never got started. I tried it a couple of times but it didn’t stick.

One of the benefits of doing the Miracle Morning SAVERS is that meditation (silence) is one of the components. And somehow because it is one of the components of a bunch of activities, it doesn’t seem so intimidating.

It’s just five to ten minutes of silence/mindfulness. And then it’s off to the next SAVERS item. What seemed challenging to do when it was an activity on its own, I’ve found easy to do because it’s part of a list. The expectation around it dissolves because I have the other activities to do right away.

I can’t say that I’ve noticed any great changes since I’ve been practicing mindfulness. I still get annoyed at people and things. I still lose my temper.

But I have noticed that when I do get angry, I catch myself sooner. And I get myself out of the anger loop easier.

It’s early stages. I try not to have expectations about it, either.

And even though I haven’t noticed any great changes, I enjoy my silence in the morning and plan to keep practicing it.
