Going International

My year, the Groon Year, ends in late February. But it’s hard not to reflect on the calendar year as December comes to an end.

And I realized that I haven’t posted about a milestone that I reached in the late summer.

I became an International Playwright!

Yes, one of my plays had a staged reading in Mexico.

Brian Munroe, a friend of mine who lives in Mexico, reached out to me in the spring. To see if he could do a reading of my play Minced.

It was about the time I had decided to work on a rewrite of Minced. Which I took as a woo-woo sign from the Universe that it was a good idea. Of course, I’m still working on the rewrite, but that’s another post.

Anyway, Brian directed a lovely staged reading.

I’ve been struggling to stay focused on my playwriting for the last few years. My struggles are well documented on this blog. So, it was a refreshing vindication to have someone want to produce a play of mine — in a foreign country, no less!

To be honest, I always assumed that my first international production would be in the U.S. Or Ireland, perhaps. But I’m excited that it was in Mexico. Very cool.

I thought I’d share that fact even though it’s a bit late.
