The Ending of Things

We have two more performances of Things I Know to be True. It’s always weird when a show is coming to the end of the run.

We’ve spent weeks working on this show. Rehearsals started in February, but we met as a cast before that. It feels like we’ve been working on it much longer.

This show scared me a bit.

Not because of the content but because I wasn’t sure that I could do it justice.

I wasn’t sure that my acting skills were up to snuff.

I had to step up my game.

I’m not saying that I did it justice.

But I stepped up my game.

I improved as an actor.

I worked harder.

And strove to be better.

I’m proud of my work.

I’m proud of the cast and crew.

It’s a good show.

It’s been a great experience.

The last few shows that I’ve done have pushed me a little out of my comfort zone.

I don’t think I would have been able to do this show as well, if it hadn’t been for the last few shows I’ve done.

Death by Design. Assisted Living. A Christmas Carol. Harvey. The Home for the Holidays. Burn. The Game’s Afoot.

They all had lessons. They all had challenges and opportunities for growth.

Even seeing some other shows had lessons. I still consider Burlington’s production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf a master class in acting. And it has informed some of my performances since seeing it.

And tomorrow, I will say good by to Bob Price. The character I play in Things I Know to be True.

I will be sad to leave him. And the rest of my Price family. On stage and behind the scenes.

But before that happens, there’s still two more performances! And I will enjoy playing Bob as long as I get to.
