The Around the Bay is only 10 days away.
This weekend is my last long run before the big race.
How did I do last week?
Not as good as I hoped.
My toenails were still recovering from my 30km practice run.
And it’s hard to fit a long run in with some other activities.
Like rehearsals.
Or a neighbour’s birthday party.
And the toenails…
Seriously.
I’m glad that I experienced the sore toenails.
I will remember to make sure my toenails are short on race day.
That’s why it’s important to do some long-distance training in the lead up to a big race.
Things you wouldn’t think about, like long toenails, can be an issue when you’re running 30km…
I only ended up running once last week.
And it was only 6km.
It was faster than usual.
My speed is increasing a little.
I’m not a fast runner, but every little bit helps.
This week, I’m hoping to get three runs in.
I ran yesterday.
And plan to run tomorrow and Sunday.
My Sunday long run won’t be too long.
I’ll save that for ten days from now.
