Both Caileigh and Chris had to work Monday morning, so tried to get on the road around 9am. We were on our way to Montreal to go visit Grandma Gay.
Caileigh and Chris were great hosts. It was wonderful hanging out with them.
The Ottawa roads were still sloppy from the previous day’s snowstorm.
And we had an hour long wait on the highway because of an accident.
We were just past the exit, so we were stuck. It was a little annoying seeing many cars pull off the highway and take an alternate route.
Oh well. Such is driving in Canada during the winter.
When traffic finally started moving again, we progressed slowly.
There were still a few whiteouts. And parts of the highway shrunk to a single lane because of snow drifts.
We got to the West Island and made an important stop: Lafleurs. I prefer Decarie Hot Dogs, but it’s a bit out of the way for a visit to Beaconsfield.
We were picking up some steamies (hot dogs) and fries for lunch.
My Duolingo lessons paid off as I ordered everything in French. To be honest, I tried ordering in English, but the server pretended not to understand. So, I pulled out my broken French.
Vive la Quebec!
We brought our bounty to Gay’s place and feasted.
Later, my aunt Jenny and uncle John arrived.
So, did our niece, Erica.
Another feast followed.
And more importantly, lots of conversation.
