Sunday morning, we woke to the news that the snowstorm was coming. Round two of Snowmageddon – Ottawa Style.
There was an advisory not to drive if you didn’t have to. So that meant that Bethany, Issac, and Ada were not coming today. Neither were Pat and Alex.
Which meant that we didn’t have to rush to get ready for guests. So we had a leisurely breakfast.
Fortunately, we had a brief visit with Pat the day before. And Alex is busy writing a book with a hard deadline, so he didn’t have to lose any time visiting with us. Although it would have been great to see him.
We had a Zoom chat with Bethany and Issac. And of course, Adorable Ada.
Not the same as seeing each other in person, but it was lovely to have a virtual visit.
We decided to brave the weather and walk over to Parliament and see some of the sights.
Dan was also eager to try some Obama cookies.
On Feb. 19th 2009, President Barack Obama visited Ottawa. And made a quick stop at Le Moulin de Provence to buy a cookie. The short bread cookies have been called “Obama Cookies” ever since. We were there on Feb. 16th. Three days shy of the 16th anniversary of Obama’s visit.
There were plenty of photo ops as we trudged through the snow.

On the way back to Caileigh and Chris’, we walked through some of the Winterlude events.
And then Caileigh and I trudged back out to get some shawarma for dinner.
A rousing game of Salad Bowl ensued.
It was a great way to spend our last evening in Ottawa.
