Last night we had our first read through for Things I Know to be True by Andrew Bovell.
I like having the read through.
There’s no pressure.
The cast just reads the lines of the script.
It’s the last time that the play will be just the playwright’s.
Starting with our next rehearsal, we will start to build our show.
We’ll learn our lines. Find our blocking.
Develop our characterizations.
Work our scenes.
And the play will become ours, too.
We will put our spin on it.
Eventually, we’ll have an audience to share it with.
The magic of theatre.
And it starts with the words in the script.
It’s a fun play.
Comedy. Drama.
I can hardly wait.
