Chunking Out

I don’t usually use “chunking” as a productivity process.

Chunking is when you batch up similar types of work and dedicate time to do them.

For example, I could “chunk” writing blog posts.

I could spend a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday. And write a bunch of blog posts.

In fact, I should do that Saturday AND Sunday.

Then, I’d have a week of posts ready for the following week.

I’ve always thought of myself as a “bird by bird” person.

That’s from Anne Lamott’s book Bird by Bird.

Basically, do a little bit every day.

Or a little bit at a time.

But my bird-by-bird strategy doesn’t always work.

I might need to look at a chunking as a tactic.

At least for the short term.

I’m still trying to get into the routine of 2025.

Work is busier than usual.

Which leaves me more tired than usual.

And I’m not getting up early enough to do some writing before work.

But I’m too tired or frazzled to write after work.

Choir started this week. Which will add to the list of things to do when I’m not at work.

And the next show I’m in starts rehearsals in a few weeks.

So, it’s time to look at doing some chunking…
