Thanksgiving 2024

Last week was Thanksgiving. For us Canadians.

Caileigh and Chris came down from Ottawa.

Tara was here with Dan.

And Deb’s brother, Donald, and her father, Mark, joined us from Montreal.

We were missing Keaton and Kate. They were home in B.C.

But it was great to visit with the folks that we had here.

We shuffled our usual Sunday celebration to Saturday.

You must be ready to make some adjustments when many families are involved. And the important thing for us isn’t when we celebrate.

It’s that we celebrate. Together.

In the end, the celebration change was better for Donald and Mark anyway. They headed back to Montreal on Sunday.

Sunday night was quiet with just Deb, Tara, Dan, and me.

We decided to go out for dinner. But it proved a bit challenging to find a place that we wanted to go to that was open.

We went to Buddy’s. Our local pub. And had some delicious Buddy’s wings.

Keaton and Kate called via Messenger.

And Caileigh and Chris joined in from his family’s Thanksgiving Dinner.

We got to all be together, digitally, on our traditional celebration day in the end.

I was grateful for what I’m always grateful for:

My family.

I’m also grateful for my extended family.

And my friends.

Everything else is gravy.

And gravy is delicious, so that is not a slight in any way.
