Five Hundred Days or Cinq Cent Jours

I reached a milestone on Duolingo, today.

500 consecutive days of learning.

Or is it playing?

That’s one of the things that makes Duolingo so effective for me.  The gamification of the learning.

French was always difficult for me when I was a kid.

I grew up in Quebec and had French in school for 13 years of education.

I just couldn’t get it.

And vocabulary was always challenging.

But I’ve been working on my French for over a year now with Duolingo.

And I hope to keep going with it.

I haven’t started watching TV in French yet.

But I’ve read instructions and a couple of emails in French.

I even texted a bilingual friend of mine in French.

And I’m amazed at my increase in vocabulary.

It’s been easy to play/learn.

It only takes a few minutes a day.

I started off learning Portuguese for our trip to Portugal last year. But moved to French when we got back.

I’ll probably go back to Portuguese to improve on it.

I want to get to a point where I feel fluent enough in French, first.

And then there are other languages to explore.

Irish.

German.

Spanish.

Japanese.

Greek.

Will I make it to another 500 days?

And if I do, what will I be working on then?
