I subscribe to Seth Godin’s blog. He’s been posting daily for decades. It’s amazing.
I don’t read every post.
But I read today’s post. About chocolate.
And I went down a chocolate rabbit hole.
I had no idea that a lot of the world’s chocolate is produced using slave labour.
And child labour.
Or if I knew about it before, I conveniently forgot about it.
It’s easy to turn away from uncomfortable things.
To claim ignorance.
To focus on the delicious things we like to eat and not think about where they came from.
Or how they are made.
What needed to be done to get them to our convenient little stores in our safe communities.
Individually, we can’t change the world.
But we can change ourselves.
We can change our habits.
And if enough of us change our habits, collectively we CAN change the world.
It’s not a fast process.
It takes many little steps.
Today, I took a small step and bought some ethically sourced chocolate.
If you want to go down your own chocolate rabbit hole, you can read Seth’s chocolate post here.
