September Drift

It seems to happen every month.  I have a plan.

Enthusiasm is strong at the beginning of the month.

And then imperceptibly, a drift happens.

A drift away from the plan.

It’s subtle.

But it seems inevitable.

There’s a week left and I haven’t made a dent in September’s plan.

My lines for The Game’s Afoot still need to be learned.

My weight loss goal was a bit optimistic.

And working on the play that I want to write…?

Heavy sigh.

As usual, it’s easy to look at the goals and see them as missed.

But I did some work on my line learning.  Not enough.  But some.

And I’ve done some work on my weight loss, too.

The only goal that I haven’t done enough work on is the playwriting.

I still feel stuck on that front.

There are still a few days left in the month.

It’s never too late to get started.

I might not be ready to submit a play to the contest on time.

But the real goal is to write a play.  Submitting it somewhere is gravy.

And most deadlines are self-imposed.

It’s normal to drift a bit.

Remembering to course correct is the important thing.
