When you start rehearsals, not only do you work on the show. You also develop a cast dynamic.
Every cast is different. Obviously. It’s made up of different people.
But some casts socialize more than others.
You spend a lot of time with each other during the rehearsal process. So, it’s understandable if people don’t want to hang out after rehearsals.
And even if you do want to hang out, other responsibilities can dictate your availability.
I like to go out every now and then after a rehearsal.
It’s fun to commiserate with fellow actors and crew. And it’s also nice to get to know a bit more about the people you are spending so much time with.
It’s difficult to socialize during rehearsals. You should be focusing on the work.
Last night, a few of us went out for a drink and a chat.
It was lovely. Just four of us.
Most of us have worked together before. Or have known each other for a few years.
We didn’t stay late. But it was a good time.
I’m hoping we have some more post rehearsal gatherings.
