Walking on Wilson

I went for a walk the other day.  And as part of my walk, I strolled along Wilson Street.

It’s a street I drive along all the time.

It becomes a one-way street and makes for a good route to by-pass some of the traffic on the way home from downtown.

It’s bumpy and not well taken care of.

But it gets the job done.

And if you had told me last week that there were parkettes along Wilson, I would have said you were crazy.

As I said, I drive along that street all the time.

I’ve never noticed a parkette.

What’s a parkette?  It’s a small park.  Some green space. A bench or two. Might have some play facilities for kids.

But walking leisurely allows you to see more things than when you’re speeding to get home.

On my walk along Wilson, I counted three parkettes.

Three!

Little splashes of green that I’ve never noticed.

I’ve driven along that stretch for seven years.

And never noticed three parkettes.

What else have I been passing daily or weekly and not noticed?
