Quiet Before the Storm

It’s Monday evening. I don’t have anything on.

Tomorrow the gauntlet of rehearsals begins. To get us ready for the Opening Night of Burn.

I have a Zoom chat with some buddies in a few minutes. It may go to 9:30 or 10pm.

I should go to bed early. It’s my last chance to get to bed early until next Sunday.

But there’s also some music I should be practicing. Vocal Point’s concert is also this weekend.

There are two concerts. But I can’t make the first one because it’s at the same time as Burn on Friday night.

I’ll be able to make it to the second concert on Saturday. It’s in the afternoon.

And then I rush off to the evening performance of Burn, again.

It is the calm before the storm. The storm of busy-ness.

It builds up to this weekend.

After Saturday, Vocal Point’s concert will be over.

Burn will be opened and there’s more performances, but the hard work will be over.

What remains is the playing. Putting on the show. The fun of performing.

Right now, there are two different shows. Getting ready.

In preparation for an audience.

That final magical ingredient to any performance.

Maybe I’ll savour the peace and quiet for a little longer.

Things start to move tomorrow!
