We are hard-wired to look for what’s wrong. What’s bad. What’s broken.
And with those “glasses” on, it’s easy to overlook what’s good. What’s working. What went well.
Last month, I missed two posts. I only posted 28 days, instead of 30 days.
And my initial reaction was that I failed.
Not only that, but I also considered stopping my goal to do 365 posts. To abort my year of blog posts.
I mean, I failed, right?
But this all or nothing mentality doesn’t help us get things done. Stuff happens.
We fall down.
It’s about getting back up. It’s about finishing the race.
Missing two posts out of thirty… That represents 7%.
Or to put it another way, I completed 93% of the posts that I wanted to do in April. That’s pretty darn good.
Why would I look at that as a failure?
But that’s how I felt.
I’m not giving up. I’m dusting myself off and continuing the race.
