Social Limits

I’ve been pretty good at limiting my television watching. Limiting it how many days I watch.

Of course, once I sit in front of the TV, I’m prone to sit there for hours.

For me, avoidance is the best kind of limitation. Because my self control is very weak once I start watching.

But I’ve noticed that scrolling social media has taken TV’s place.

It starts off innocently enough. I’ll check Facebook for a sec. I’ll watch a reel or two on Instagram.

And when I look up, hours have gone by.

Gah!

Two days ago, I put daily time limits on both Facebook and Instagram.

I’m using my phone to stop me from using my phone so much!

I’ve tried putting limits on before. I’ve even uninstalled the apps from my phone before.

They keep creeping back. I keep letting them come back.

I want to try an experiment and see if I can keep the social media restrictions going for a month.

I’ve got lines to work on and songs to work on. There’s writing to do. Books to read.

Lots of things to fill the space and time taken by TV and social media.

But can I keep the limits going for a month…?
