I think learning geometry screws most of us up.
We’re taught that a straight line is the shortest distance between objects.
But in real life, there aren’t straight lines between things.
There are always obstacles. Or bumps in the road.
There are detours that must be taken.
There’s rarely a straight line between you and whatever your goal is.
And if we expected to take the squiggly line or the roundabout route, then more of us would reach our goals.
If we were taught that very few journeys go from point A to point B without interruption.
That you most likely need to create your own route to that thing that’s right in front of you.
That the route that worked for someone else, might not work for you.
Maybe more of us would start looking for the alternate routes sooner.
Maybe more of us would persevere longer.
Maybe we’d stop looking for the most direct route.
And focus on finding the route that’s best for us.
