Poopy Draft

I’m almost finished the first week of The End of Play. Working on a first draft of my next play.

I keep reminding myself this is the “poopy” draft. You can use ruder words if you want.

The point is that there are no expectations for the first draft. You want to get it done.

Don’t over think it.

Just write.

And write.

Until it’s done.

In fact, if you are having trouble writing, it’s a good idea to deliberately try to write bad stuff.

Once the draft is done, you can sift through it and see if there’s anything worth keeping.

In most cases, it will be a bit better than you thought.

But it’s not important how good or bad it is.

It’s going to get rewritten regardless. So, just get the first draft finished.
