BC Visit Day 4

We met up with Sarah and Cole for breakfast. After a leisurely breakfast, we said our goodbyes.

Today was going to be our big travel day. We were going from Jasper to Fort St. John. Which is almost 7 hours.

But first, we were going to take a detour to Maligne Canyon and take in the views. I’m not crazy about heights, so I didn’t want to look down when we were crossing some of the bridges.

The frozen waterfalls were gorgeous though.

The Maligne Canyon was part of the same trail system that Deb and I were on yesterday. So, if we had more stamina, we could have discovered it on our own. But it’s much nicer to be there with the kids.

Plus, I provided some amusement with my fear of falling.

We could have easily stayed longer and gone further down the canyon. But we were trying to get to Fort St. John before 8pm. Keaton had a soccer game to get to.

And we had to pick up their two dogs, Meeko and Willow, from the kennel.

I was sad to leave the mountains behind, but before we knew it, the landscape flattened out.

And where was all the snow? It was unseasonably warm and dry. Oddly enough, it was colder in Hamilton than in Fort St. John.

We arrived chez Keaton and Kate with time to spare. We got the full tour of their place. And basked in the view at the end of their property.

We assembled a delicious nacho dinner and then dashed out to Keaton’s game.

We cheered Keaton and his soccer team on. The ref was much more generous giving out yellow cards to Keaton’s team than the other team. It seemed a bit lopsided from our point of view.

But it was an exciting game. Even if Keaton’s team didn’t win.

And then we were back to Keaton and Kate’s place for a night cap, some conversation, and then off to bed.
