Now that I’m in my third week of this daily blogging journey, it feels like the momentum is starting to build.
Jim Collins talks about the flywheel effect in his book Good to Great. The flywheel effect is that a bunch of small actions build on each other to produce greater actions.
Think of a flywheel or a merry-go-round. It takes a bit of work to get it moving. You have to push it and push it. But once it starts going, it takes very little effort for it to keep going.
It moves on most of the kinetic energy built up. As long as you give it some small pushes, it will keep going.
What was the push that got it going? Was it the first push? The fifth push?
It was all of them. There was no one single push that was responsible.
I’m not at a point where I feel like I’ve got momentum going with my writing. But I can feel the momentum building.
I must keep pushing, though. Keep writing posts. Keep taking action.
Any goal worth accomplishing is built on small steps. Small actions. Small pushes.
What actions do you need to take?
What steps will get your flywheel turning?
