Falling down is a key element when learning to walk.
But no infant ever says to themselves, I’m only going to fall down forty more times and that’s it. I’ll give up on walking.
I’m only going to fall down this week, but then that’s it. If I can’t walk by next week, I’ll crawl for the rest of my life.
They get laser focused and keep trying. They keep falling down and getting up.
They keep failing. And they keep trying again.
They’re the same when they learn to speak.
What happens to us? Why do we lose that ability to stay committed to acquiring new skills?
Failing or falling down is part of the process.
The only way to succeed is to be prepared for fall down a few times.
Maybe a few hundred times.
Maybe a few thousand times.
Is there something that you want to get done? That you want to get done with as much dedication as a baby has when they’re learning to walk?
Then start failing.
