Testing Out Habits

I’ve embarked on a few 30-Day Challenges before. Mostly to write blog posts. Or other forms of writing.

But the 30-Day Challenge is a good format to try out any new habit or routine. To see if you can maintain the activity. And to see if it sticks beyond the 30 days.

A few years ago, I tried the Miracle Morning for 30 days. It stuck for over 3 years. I still consider it part of my routine, but I’m not always consistent with it these days.

Last year, I started doing Duolingo daily as a 30-Day Challenge to myself. It was in preparation for our trip to Portugal. I’m still at it, although I’m working on my French now. 30 days has turned into 222 days and counting.

But other things like the blog posting don’t seem to last beyond the 30-Day Challenge. And that’s okay.

If it doesn’t stick, it doesn’t stick.

I’ve been lax with trying more things out.

Spending 15 minutes a day on my music is my current 30-Day Challenge. So far so good. It’s only day 2, though.

But I want to be trying more things.

I don’t need to be doing a challenge every month. Going from zero to sixty is rarely something that can be maintained.

So, I’ll start small. I’ll do four 30-Day Challenges this year. One for each quarter.

Now, I need to figure out what the next three challenges will be. But I’ve got until April to figure the next one out…
