In Be Useful, Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about how he would train for 5 hours a day when he was a body builder. Two and a half hours in the morning. And two and a half hours in the afternoon.
He would track all his workouts.
When he transitioned from body builder into a movie star, he stopped working out for 5 hours a day. But he used that time to work on his craft. Taking classes, learning lines, etc.
And then when he went into politics, he again used that time to develop his political skills. 5 hours a day learning to how do that job and try to get the necessary skills.
I know that I don’t put in enough time for the things I work on.
It embarrasses me a bit to think about it.
Arnie would read his script from front to back at least twenty times. And he’d put a check mark on the script each time, to keep track.
I usually read my script a couple of times and then focus on my lines.
And I don’t work on it every day.
Maybe I should.
I know that I should work on my songs every day. But I don’t.
I’m lazy.
Also, I don’t have 5 hours a day to spend working out. Or reading scripts.
But I could find an hour to work on stuff. At least most days.
I’ll start smaller though.
We have a lot of songs to learn for our choir this session. And starting today, I will spend at least 15 minutes a day learning my music.
I can spend more time, obviously. But the target is 15 minutes a day.
