The funny thing about deadlines is that you can be aware of them.
But think they are far off.
Kind of like those mirrors that say “Things are closer than they appear”.
We’re supposed to be off book (know all our lines) by Sunday.
In five days.
But deadlines like that are kind of “soft” deadlines.
We’re supposed to be off book, but there are spots where some of us might still need our script.
Or we’ll be calling for lines.
The actual “offbook” will occur much later.
But the opening of the play?
That’s a “hard” deadline.
Things I know to be True opens a month from today: April 25.
And there’s no negotiating that.
We have to be off book and know all our blocking.
And flex our acting muscles.
In a month.
Now, that’s scary.
Two months of rehearsals have flown by.
We started the rehearsal process a lot sooner and went a lot slower than usual.
It helped to build the rapport between the actors.
But the pace will pick up very quickly now.
And those lines?
Time to get cracking on them!
